Crawler - ST' Tape (2010)

Defunct Power Violence/Sludge/Noise band from Auckland. This is their only recording that came out on a tape. Really groovy music, similar to Neanderthal, Man Is the Bastard etc. They occasionally used to do experimental noise set which was fun.

Downfall Of Gaia & In The Hearts Of Emporers Split (2011)

Just stumbled across this band and thought they should be posted. Downfall Of Gaia are from Germany and In The Hearts Of Emporers are from Sweden. Both these band play a kind of epic hardcore crust style which is very bleak and dark. Similar to Fall of Efrafa. Both bands have other music around so check it out!

Kia Kaha Kids

Kia Kaha Kids are an Auckland based punk band that formed in 2009, playeing a series of shows that featured GG Allin and Misfits covers and even a sweet drunken cover of Eye Of The Tiger. They also played a handful of originals with classics like "8% Or Die" (about how 8% bourbon and coke is mean) and "Don't Die A Pussy". There shows are really fun and don't tend the happen too often, usually just sticking to house parties and such, but they're totally worth seeing. You'll note that the cover to this demo is "Kia Kaha Kids" written in shit on the vocalists bedroom wall.

Malevolence - Eyes To See Ears To Hear Wrists To Slit (2007)

Malevolence are a long standing Grindcore/DeathMetal band from Auckland who have been playing since 1992. This is their 7th release. Even though this is only a relatively short album, it churns out a forceful 6 songs, chugging and blasting their way through. Definitely keep an eye out for these guys and go to their shows which happen pretty often!

Misanthropic - Open Up And Take Your Bullet (2007)

This is the 1st 7inch from this now defunct crust/grind/sludge band from Arizona. The musical style is like a healthy mix between Assuck, Antischism and Dystopia, creating a totally intense and original sound. Some of the members of this band have since gone on to form the band Sea of Deprivation.

Micheal Crafter 'DY or Die' (2010)

Micheal Crafter are a 2 piece Power Violence band from Sydney, Australia. They recently did a tour in New Zealand, playing a couple of shows in Auckland. I thought they played a great set that was really energetic and they had a pretty full sound for a two piece. This is their album "D.Y OR DIE", its pretty sweet.

Lager Louts and Ferndale Stranglers were both Oi/Street Punk bands from Auckland who broke up sometime in 2011. Self described as 'Good cunts on the piss, playing good music on the piss'. The much anticipated 'GCOTP Ep' came out in March 2011. Loads of sweet as singalong Oi anthems from both bands. Well worth having a listen, as they were the best two bands doing this kind of stuff recently in New Zealand! Ka Pai.

This is a clip from Missing Teeth's reunion show at the Thirsty Dog last night. Missing Teeth were brilliant and rowdy as ever, playing their own mix of Hardcore Punk/Ska Punk. Pick Of The Litter Vol. 2 Compilation (2004)

This is an old PuppyKiller Record Compilation that came out in 2004 featuring 33 tracks from a range of bands (who are mostly defunct now) including Missing Teeth, Roofdog, Garage Fodder, Evil Priest, Poisoners, Army Of Darkness, Hung Jury, Malevolence, Horror Story and Mistaken Identity. Large range of styles played in this compilation, we need more like this. Decided to post this after watching an awesome Missing Teeth reunion show last night.

This was their 2nd and final CD complete with David Attenborough tribute song and a parody of Iron Lungs track Sexless//No Sex called Snackless//No Snacks. This Comp Kills Fascists Vol. 1

This Comp Kills Fascists Vol. 1 was released by Relapse Records in 2008, and was eventually followed by Vol. 1 and Vol. 3. The compilations focuses on Grindcore and Powerviolence, with bands such as Weekend Nachos, Agents of Satan and Spoonful of Vicodin to name a few. My favorite selection of tracks would have to be the Weekend Nachos songs, the Chainsaw to the Face tracks and the Insect Warfare tracks; but with 51 tracks its hard to be picky.

Anaal Nathrakh - In the Constellation of the Black Widow (2009)

Anaal Nathrakh are Black Metal  from the UK who formed in 1999, but have since changed their style incorporating grindcore and death metal to their sound. One of their members is also in one of my favorite bands, Fukpig. This is their 2009 album "In the Constellation of the Black Widow", which is my favorite release of theirs.

Excrementory Grindfuckers - Gore, Guts, Grind (2007)

Excrementory Grindfuckers are a band from Hannover, Germany. They formed in 2001, playing a ridiculous kind of grindcore with incredibly silly songs including Limp Bizkit covers and an awesome cover of "The Final Count Down" by Europe. Though silly, and clearly taking the piss to a large degree, they still play kickass grindcore. One of the band members also plays in another satirical band, which take the piss out of black metal called "Fog Power".

CaskGrinder - Songs Performed in the Beat of D (2010)

CaskGrinder are a New Zealand band based in Auckland, they play raw D-Beat with a heavy Cask Wine influence. They are fuckin' rad and play fuckin' fast. They formed around late 2009 and been playing since then. This is their 2010 demo, "Caskgrinder Perform Songs in the Beat of D" which was released on recycled tapes; my copy came on a dubbed over copy of "S-Club 7". Two of the songs on this demo can be found on the New Zealand hardcore punk compilation, "Welcome to the Arse End of the World", which was released by Always Never Fun Records in 2011.

Captain Cleanoff are an Australian Grindcore band that started in 1997. The Discography includes splits with Drunkard and Open Wound, a self titled album and a few live tracks etc.
